Lindsay Davis is a former Miss Ohio and ballerina who was diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy at age 17 and subsequently underwent placement of an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator. Lindsay helped in the passage of “Lindsay’s Law” in the Ohio state legislature, that requires all coaches and teachers to undergo education on the symptoms of sudden cardiac arrest, as well as a CPR training mandate. She’s now working on federal policy surrounding this. She writes on these causes for USA Today High School Sports and is an associate editor of Open Heart BMJ, the online cardiology edition of the British Medical Journal. She has been honored for her work with a Point of Light Award by President George H.W. Bush.
